I agree. Actually, after posting the first honkus and seeing that others began posting their own, I started attending my local Community Board meetings. I talked about the problem and got responses from the head of the Community Board, Craig Hammerman and from Joan Millman, my State Assemblywoman's staffers. We all put in calls to the local Community Affairs Office and there was a cop handing out tickets on Pacific and Clinton the next day.
Handing out tickets for one day, however, is not an effective way to fight the problem. I am pushing for the 76th precinct to hand out tickets for a period of at least three weeks in a row. You've got to make drivers learn. I'm going to bring up that Pittsburgh j-walking program in the next Community Board meeting and Precinct Community Affairs meeting.
